Glow Your Skin Safely With A Sunless Tanning Lotion

By Haywood Hunter

Using self tanners offers a safe alternative to tanning beds and sunbathing. Exposing skin to harmful radiation from UV light causes serious body skin problems such as cancer. Tan beds are also not so safe for your skin. However when you consider using a sunless tanning lotion, you keep away from these dangerous tan procedures. As much as people want to glow their skin and obtain a gorgeous look, they should make sure they do it safely.

The good thing is that many products have been developed including sprays, lotions, creams, and mousses that can transform the skin. The products contain an active ingredient known as dihydroxyacetone which when it penetrates the skin reacts with the amino acids to change the look of dermis. It is a process that has to be done properly failure to which the results may look undesirable.

People are advised to switch to self tanners since they are designed to give similar if not the same effects as the tan beds or sunlight but this time without damaging the skin. For sunrays to give a desirable tint on your skin, you need to remain under sunlight for a long period. It can take up to seven hours before you begin to see a change in skin shade.

The hair could trap some of the lotions and create orangey and streaked surfaces. To prevent those problems, you should make sure every procedure is done properly. You need to wash your body before you put on any substance in dermis. By washing, you remove the dirt, oils, dead skin, and salts on surface.

The skin may develop streaks and other ugly marks. It may also appear too orange. Some skin is just too hard to absorb tan products and it needs to be moisturized such as the hands and elbows. Although use of moisturizers is not advisable, there is need to ensure the dry and rough parts are moisturized.

For a lasting effect, ensure you choose the right tanner. Besides, since some ingredients could adversely react with dermis, there is needed to do some spot testing. A patch test helps you examine the suitability of a tan you are intending to use. You should not blindly apply your tan without testing it. You may not know the outcomes.

Allow the shaved areas to heal by shaving some days before you apply your tan. In choosing self tanning products, make sure you go for one that can offer a tint effect for long. Some products will only remain on skin for a few days and fade away. Others can stay on skin for a couple of days or even weeks before they fade out.

You do not want to use a product that looks impressive when you apply but the next morning, it has faded out. Depending on your skin type, consider testing the lotion before applying it. A spot test is recommended because it gives you an opportunity to determine if that tan will work on your skin. Different tanner products are made using different formulations some of which may not perform well on sensitive skin.
